Olive Oil Tasting & Sensory Evaluation Seminar with 10 Individual Samples

A personalized seminar designed to familiarize participants with the quality and sensory characteristics of olive oil, combining theory with the practical tasting of 10 individual samples. It is intended for both beginners and professionals who wish to understand the quality categories, positive attributes, and main defects of olive oil, under the guidance of experienced and accredited tasters.

The olive oil sensory evaluation seminar has been designed to offer a comprehensive and reliable experience of familiarization with the quality and sensory characteristics of olive oil.

During the seminar, participants taste ten individual olive oil samples, which have been selected and evaluated by the experienced and accredited tasting team of our laboratory, so that the tasting experience is meaningful, representative, and educationally complete.

In the theoretical and practical part of the seminar, the following are analyzed:

  • the quality categories of olive oil
  • the positive sensory characteristics
  • the negative attributes / main defects

The training is carried out based on the current criteria for the sensory evaluation of olive oil, as defined by the relevant European regulation.

The seminar is addressed to those who wish to acquire substantial knowledge about olive oil quality, either for personal education or professional use. No previous knowledge of sensory evaluation is required.

What the sample package includes

The package is sent in secure and elegant packaging and includes:

  • ten glass bottles of olive oil, with sufficient quantity for a second tasting as well, should you wish
  • informative educational material on sensory evaluation and olive oil quality
  • special tasting glasses with suitable covers, recyclable and biodegradable
  • one special blue glass olive oil sensory evaluation glass

 

Method of delivery

The seminar is personalized and takes place by arrangement, at a time that will be scheduled with you after receipt of the samples.

It may take place:

  • at our laboratory facilities
  • remotely via Zoom, with the individual samples having been sent in advance

The Organoleptic Laboratory of Crete ASR, with over 30 years of experience in olive oil quality, is located in the area of Tria Monastiria, Rethymno.

We feature a highly experienced team of tasters and modern facilities dedicated to sample evaluation and professional training. Our laboratory and its tasting panel are accredited by ESYD (Hellenic Accreditation System) and recognized by the International Olive Council (IOC) for the organoleptic assessment of virgin olive oils and the issuance of internationally valid certificates.

In addition, the laboratory conducts sample evaluations, providing specialized guidance for the proper categorization of batches and the implementation of best practices at every stage—from the olive grove to the final product.

For the development and organization of educational workshops and seminars, our laboratory is also certified under EN ISO 9001:2015 by TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS.
